Have you ever awakened in the middle of the night with no idea where you were and no memory of the last few hours? Your mouth is very dry and you are disoriented. You may have been sick while you were passed out; the results are drying on your face and your clothing. Since you are reading this blog you can probably indentify with this scenario or someone you care about has had this experience. Surrender is very difficult thing for most Alcoholics but that is what it takes to change your life. Entering a Christian Alcohol Rehab can be your first step in starting a new life.

The degradation alcoholics go through on their downward spiral causes severe damage to their spiritual core. Their behaviors often directly contradict their belief system formulated in their early upbringing. Repeated offences against their family and friends as well as constantly feeling like a failure themselves causes a devastated self esteem. It is at this point they start to consider addiction treatment. Our Christian Alcohol Rehab in Jacksonville, Florida is well suited to replenishing that spiritual void felt by Alcoholics.

Many people find their way back to God or find God when they are at their lowest point, Alcoholics are no different. Our Christ Centered Treatment Program will gently guide the patient back to sobriety. The Medical Detox in our Christian Alcohol Rehab will treat the physical affects of prolonged alcohol abuse. As the patient moves from Detox to rehab our Christian Therapist will fill that void and rebuild the patient’s spiritual core. As our patients continue to follow treatment recommendations we are blessed to witness their ongoing sobriety.

Christ Centered Treatment for Me!

A Christian treatment center was the only answer to my addiction and recovery.  I needed something in my life besides the pain I was going through and the alcohol I was using to cover it up.

I couldn’t stand the torment any longer.  I needed help and a Christian treatment center was the only way to go.  I had tried to stop drinking by myself and it didn’t work.  I needed something more.  God had always been a big part of my life, but somewhere along the way I lost Him and my direction.  In going to a Christ based treatment center such as A New Life, I learned to lean on Christ again and that he would see me through all my pain.

After getting sober I found God again!  I needed a Christian based program to help me to get back on the right path.  I now go to Alcoholics Anonymous back in my home town and work the 12 step program with other addicts.  I try to give back with love what God and A New Life gave me.

Christ Centered Rehabilitation

I hated life!  I hated things!  I hated ME!  My life was total chaos!  I didn’t have anything or anyone anymore, I had lost everything!  I don’t mean I lost my house, or job, or toys.  But I had lost my self-respect, self-esteem and most of my family.

My friends didn’t know the real me, everything was fake and I was tired of living that way!  I knew I needed a change for the better and the only way was through Christ.  I found a Christ Centered Rehabilitation program in the north part of Florida that was exactly what I needed to straighten me up. They had a detox facility and a plan that would help me get back on my feet and gain back the respect of my family.  I needed Christ in my life again!  They showed me how to meditate, I didn’t realize it was so calming and it helped me to focus on what was important.  The bible has all the answers if I just know where to look. With the help of my pastoral counselor I was able to learn how to look and find what I needed right there in the bible.

A Christ centered treatment program was the best way for me to go.  I had been brought up a christian but had fallen behind along the way.  My alcohol addiction had gotten the best of me.  I’m sorry for the time that I wasted in other treatment centers.  What I needed was to be one with God again. In looking for a Christ centered treatment program I came upon A New Life at Lakeview Health in Jacksonville, Florida.  I really wanted this to work and I knew the only way for me was to put Christ back into my life.  I needed the structure of A Christ centered program.  In attending bible study with others I realized how much I had to gain by being with other Christians.  The desire to be with God in meditation , to pray with other Christians and to have church in my life again was overwhelming.  I knew that if I ask God to take away the obsession He would.  I no longer want to drink but realize that I cannot do it by myself.  I need God in my life along with all the other gifts that A New Life gave me.  I now go to Celebrate Recovery and work the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous in my life everyday. My life has changed, I am whole again.

I realized that going to a Christian Treatment Center could be the last hope for a friend of mine.  A long time friend had finally given up on everything, he didn’t know where else to turn.  I suggested God! Protecting our pride can be deadly for some of us.  “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble”. James 4:6

When he finally gave up and admitted that he was powerless over his addiction he was starting his first and hardest step.  No one likes to admit defeat, least of all addicts.  We had grown up to believe in God and to know that He is always there for us, but we have to ask for His help.  I once read that ” the guilt and pain of living a lie can be more devastating than the shame of being exposed”.  My friend had almost lost everything, his family, friends, job, home, etc.  He finally admitted defeat and listened to his heart.  He knew that God would lead him therefore he also knew that the only way to go was into a Christ centered program for help.  After only 6 weeks of treatment through prayer, meditation, pastoral counseling and learning how to work a 12 step program through celebrate recovery he was ready to get out into the real world and live his new life.  A New Life at Lakeview Health sent him back out to his new Christian counselor and a Celebrate Recovery program that would help him and his family to work with this new man.

Today he is a New Man, family and friends in tact.  He has a new group of friends that really care about him and his recovery and he works the 12 steps of recovery in every aspect of his life.  I thank God everyday for this miracle, he has certainly put on “The New Man” Ephesians 4:17

Why would anyone even think that an addict enjoyed being addicted?  People with an addiction might enjoy the high for a while, but soon it becomes unbearable. We don’t make a decision with the intention of destroying ourselves-at least not at first.

No one wants to be grossly overweight due to excessive eating, or addicted to drugs, alcohol, nicotine, gambling etc.  We don’t grow up thinking that we want to be an addict we actually think that it will never happen to us!  We as addicts know what is right and want to do what is right; but for some reason we can’t seem to do it.

The apostle Paul wrote that “it was for freedom that Christ set us free” Gal. 5:1. God has set his children free, but many of us are not experiencing that freedom. We have the freedom of choice and that freedom of choice can lead us to a life free of addiction.  In choosing a Christian treatment center we can live that free life again.  We can change our path.  I have a life beyond my wildest dreams now!

In going to a Christ centered treatment center we can learn to rely on God to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. We can learn to trust in Him through prayer, meditation and time with other Christians.  Working a 12 step program helpes me with all aspects of my life.  My friends are people who truly love me for who I am not for who they want me to be.  My family sees a softer side of me now.  I enjoy life again.  A New Life at Lakeview Health in Jacksonville, Florida can start us on the path to recovery.

When we do drugs not only are we harming our bodies but we are also harming our families, friends and everyone else around us.  One of the worst things about drugs is the loneliness that we feel.  When we are drugging we are isolating from the world and everyone who cares about us.   The only thing we look forward to is the next high, we don’t care about anything else.  When we are ready to admit that we are beaten and that we need help we find a new liberation and strength in a Christ centered treatment program. We must first admit that we have a devastating illness  and that only a power greater than ourselves can relieve us of this illness. We can ask God to take away our obsession.  In taking that first step and admitting ourselves into a Christ centered treatment program we can find the serenity that we so desperately need. A New Life at Lakeview Health takes a completely individualized approach to addiction treatment. Through bible study, pastoral counseling, prayer, church and the 12 steps thru Christ and Celebrate Recovery we will begin a New Life.  We must strengthen our inner life to find true serenity. The Divine Will is working in a way that is beyond our finite mind , “Thy will be done”.

When we have been “clean” for a while we realize how good life can really be.  I never thought that I could have “fun” again, what I didn’t realize was that I never was having fun, I was isolating from everyone.  I was alone in my addiction, or so I thought.  All I had to do was surrender to God, he took care of the rest.
