I grew up in Iowa and was taught all about the Christian faith. Unfortunately it wasn’t for me but my parents continued to pressure me to get involved in Christian teachings. With the pressure so great I eventually turned to drugs and alcohol. It is easy to see I developed a drug and alcohol problem early but the signs of the drug and alcohol problem didn’t begin to surface until my early 20’s. Until then there was no reason to consider getting help for drug and alcohol problem.
Soon, I quit going to church as I focused more and more time around drugs and alcohol. After my second DUI I began to realize I might have a drug and alcohol problem and need help, but I wasn’t willing to get that help. About four months later I wrecked my car and accepted help for drug and alcohol problem.
Drug and alcohol treatment wasn’t so bad and now I also attend Church and 12 step meetings. Who would have ever thought I would like Church, but who knew I could live a happy life without drugs or alcohol.
