Some common myths about Christian drug rehab programs may actually prevent someone from seeking Christian drug treatment. One of the most common falsehoods about faith-based drug treatment is that only a Christian can access treatment; this is not true. A Christian drug rehab program welcomes anyone that is in need of drug treatment and experience the fellowship and care that can only come from the fellowship of Christ’s family.

ANother myth is that all one does in a Christian drug rehab program is pray all day long and sit in prayer groups; nothing could be farther from the truth. Patients in the Christian drug treatment program participate in all the activities as everyone else. Drug addiction and alcoholism effect everyone equally, regardless of one’s religous persuasion.

Instead of having preconceived ideas about what a Christian drug rehab Florida program is really like, a person should contact a Christian drug rehab program and schedule an assessment and speak to the staff about any concerns they may have. With help from a Christian drug rehab program, a strong belief in Christ and a sense of hope, a person is provided with the information and knowledge needed to permanently conquer drug addiction. When you are ready to begin the next chapter of your life and want to stop using drugs, the best and most healthy decision to make is to seek professional Christian drug treatment.

Many people pray when it looks like all is lost. They have exhausted all other recourses available to them and are still failing miserably. Addicts and alcoholics sometimes refer to this as a “bottom”. Foxhole prayers and jailhouse prayers are shouted out in desperation fueled by fear hopelessness. The Christian Therapists at our Florida Christian Rehab are quick to point out God’s response to Paul in Corinthians 12:7-10. 7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak then I am strong.

When Paul prayed to God for help it became clear to him why his pain was necessary. Prayer is bringing God and His resources into our earthly realities. How better can we get to know someone than to communicate with them at length? Prayer is drawing upon divine resources to influence human reality. A Drug Rehab is exactly the right place where prayer can impact lives in a positive manner. Our Florida Christian Rehab has structured prayer time to help develop the positive habit of communion with God.

The words pray and prayer are used at least twenty?five times in connection with our Lord in the brief record of His life in the four Gospels, and His praying is mentioned in places where the words are not used. Some addiction treatment centers may feel uncomfortable recognizing prayer as part of their curriculum but our Florida Christian Rehab recognizes the power of prayer and encourages our patients to pray.

Upon entering a drug or alcohol rehab center, patients learn about the necessary steps they will need to take in order to overcome their problem with substance abuse or addiction. Once admitted, however, many providers choose to conceal certain information from their patients. Below are the top seven things drug and alcohol rehab centers don’t want you to know.

1. Their Success Rate– An drug and alcohol rehab center will typically hesitate to talk about their past success rates in treating patients struggling from drug or alcohol abuse and addiction. The reason srug and alcohol rehab centers often neglect this information is because the success rate of a patient in treatment often lies in their own involvement, attitude and efforts, and not necessarily the specific treatment methods administered to the patient.

2. Details about the Facility and Rooms – Although a top-notch drug and alcohol rehab facility may disclose information pertaining to the appearance of their facility, many choose not to describe the look of their facility in detail.

3. The Length of a Patient’s Stay – Every patient in a drug and alcohol rehab facility is different, with their own set of circumstances and treatment requirements. As a result, there is rarely a universal length of stay in a drug and alcohol rehab center. However, a drug and alcohol rehab facility may require a patient to remain in treatment for a set length of 30 days, 45 days, 60 days or some other fixed period.

4. The Cost of Treatment – Considering the many variables that affect the cost of treatment, including insurance, length of stay and other criteria, drug and alcohol rehab centers will rarely disclose a set price for their services prior to admission. You can however negotiate a “cash” price for a specific number of days.

5. Information about the Food – The quality of the food served in a drug and alcohol rehab center varies from facility to facility and treatment providers rarely disclose nutritional information and “special” meal accommodation about their food.

6. “There is No Cure for Alcoholism or Drug Addiction” – Patients enrolled in a drug and alcohol rehab facility learn how to live with their addiction to alcohol or drugs. Since there is no cure for alcoholism or drug addiction, treatment providers often hesitate to discuss this theory with patients as not to sound discouraging.

Just because a doctor prescribes a medication, doesn’t mean you can’t become addicted. Our Christian Drug Rehab in Florida has seen an increase in admissions with patients addicted to Prescription Medication. Many of these patients denial is amplified by the fact that their drug of choice was prescribed by their doctor. Any medication or drug that is mood-altering can be addictive. Many of the patients use the medication for legitimate reasons and the use turns to abuse because of a low tolerance to pain. People start to increase the dosage or shorten the time between application to relieve symptoms and the end result is addiction.

Patients with prescription addiction are admitted to our detoxification unit which is part of our Christian Drug Rehab. Our Physicians patiently explain the medical aspect of what happened to the patient and way the ended up in a drug rehab. Some of these addictions have a short history but some have persisted for years and our Christians Therapists help the patient work through the fallout of destruction present in life of any addict.

While illegal drug use gets the most attention when people talk about drug addiction, it is easy to overlook the legal drugs that are used for recreation, which leads to addiction. Medicine cabinets all over America have become the source of drugs for young and old alike looking for a “free high”. Proper use of Rx meds and disposal of unused meds can reduce the risk of addiction. But when there is an addiction, please seek professional help at a Christian Drug Rehab.

We can draw strong comparisons between the devastated people of Haiti and addicts in Addiction Treatment. Although the situations are different the feelings of hopelessness and desperation are similar. We certainly can’t compare the loss of life or home; but we can draw on the incredible faith shown by these resilient people facing sever challenges and overwhelming odds. The faith in God expressed by the majority of Haitians is the same faith needed by patients in a Christian Drug Rehab.

When patients enter a Christian Drug Rehab it is often the result of a consequence, a loss or threat of loss in their life. Patients feel lost, hopeless, desperate and trapped. They often state they feel they are at the lowest point in their life, having lost homes, jobs, family and friends. This loss may in fact be self induced but loses just the same; and having to face their situation without the use of drugs is indeed painful.

Christian Drug Rehabs can offer faith through the word of God to help patients rebuild their lives. Christian leaders through out Haiti are rallying people through their faith and replacing desperation with hope. Our Christian Counselors in drug rehab can use the example of the Haitian People to motivate patients in their own struggle and in deed replace desperation with hope.

Twenty years ago I worked for a Drug Rehab that interviewed the whole family prior to admitting the patient. The message being conveyed was the entire family is adversely impacted by the addicts’ behavior even if the identified patient no longer lives with the family. That Treatment Center was ahead of its time with its strong focus on the family just as the Florida Christian Drug Rehab in Jacksonville leads the way today with their family program.

The family therapist at our Florida Christian Drug Rehab has studied with Pia Mellody and John Bradshaw, leaders in the field and experts in co-dependency, conflict resolution and setting boundaries. Addiction Treatment is not complete without addressing resentments held as a result of growing up in a dysfunctional family.

When a patient is admitted to our Florida Christian Drug Rehab the staff will make every effort to engage the family in our week long family program. The family actually comes into treatment with their loved one and participates in the clinical process. The goal is to repair or at lest have all involved accept existing issues and work towards resolution. If you are considering a Drug Rehab Center, come to one with a good family program.

Making the decision to enter a Drug Rehab can be frightening as it is serious. When I was trying to find the right facility to get clean I looked all over New Jersey for a good drug rehab center. I ended up entering a Christian Drug Rehab even thou I wasn’t Christian. It was an excellent program but thee was too much pressure from staff and peers for me to attend Church and participate in other Christian oriented groups and classes. They finely just asked me to leave the facility saying I was non – compliant and a distraction to other patients.

After only a week in treatment I knew had to find another facility to complete my therapy. I found an Addiction Treatment Center in Jacksonville, Florida that looked like the right place for me. I was there for three days when I found out they had a Christian Drug Program. At first I was worried that I might have the same problem as in New Jersey. What I found out was that the program I was in, the traditional track was totally separate from any other program.

Patients at Lakeview Health were free to transfer into another track within the facility if they thought it would help them but there was never any pressure. I knew some patients that moved to the Christian Drug Rehab, but they never tried to force their faith on me. Besides getting world class treatment we all learned we could live together regardless of our different beliefs.

As addicts leave their homes and communities to enter our Christian Drug Rehab, they are comforted in knowing we offer Pastoral Counseling. Even though this may not be their pastor from home, the parameters of Pastoral Counseling are such that the patient feels at ease with this stand in minister. In our drug rehab the same person that facilitates the patients Celebrate Recovery also does our Pastoral Counseling. This offers a high degree familiarity and the patients develop the trust necessary for the recovery process.

By definition, pastoral counseling affirms the client’s own spiritual journey and faith community even though these may be different from the counselors, thus it precludes proselytizing and “evangelical” efforts to induce the client to change faith communities. This process epitomizes our respect for the patients entering our Christian Drug Rehab.

The therapists in our addiction treatment program work closely with the Pastoral Counselor to synchronize the effort in the therapeutic process. This is just one point that sets us apart from other Christian Drug Rehabs but an extremely important point. All staff members, even volunteers, work together as a team to provide the very best care for our patients.

As parents try to confront the heart breaking problem of their child’s addiction they are turning to a Christian Drug Rehab. Research by parents enlightens them to the approach taken by Christian Rehab’s where their son or daughter is treated with dignity and respect and the patient is never made to feel guilty by the Addiction Treatment Staff.

The general public has become more educated about the disease of addiction. They are more aware of the physical, mental and all consuming spiritual aspects that affect addicts and alcoholics. Most Drug Rehab Centers do a good job with the mental and physical parts of the disease but only a Christian Drug Rehab is specifically adapted to work with the spiritual part of this disease. Christian Parents who take the problem of an addicted offspring to their clergy are directed to seek out a Christ Centered drug rehab center.

Our Christian Drug Rehab in Jacksonville, Fl. helps the patients re-connect with God through Pastoral Counseling, multiple daily Bible Studies, attendance at Church and Celebrate Recovery. Patients begin to fill that spiritual void left by the self abuse of their addiction. Families are encouraged to participate in our week long family program to address specific issues that will facilitate a smother transition of the patient back into the family upon their discharge. When patients leave our Christian Program they are well equipped to start their new life of recovery.

Just wanted to write this because I am heading for a Florida drug and alcohol rehabilitation program late today. I could have gone to a drug and alcohol rehabilitation in New Jersey, more specifically, Trenton, New Jersey, but my friend said why go to a drug and alcohol rehab in New Jersey when you can go to a drug and alcohol rehab in Florida. Hell, that made sense to me….frost bite versus sun burn…..even I can figure that one out hung over and on Oxy’s.

So, see you in Florida, maybe even in the drug and alcohol rehab. for all of you staying in the drug and alcohol rehab in New Jersey…..don’t forget your thermal underwear….lol
